Sunoco Performance Theater and AMP Gallery
A special, gala tribute to the World Surgical Foundation (WSF) as they celebrate 20 years of international service bringing healthcare to the most needy parts of the world. The event also recognizes Dr. Domingo Alvear’s official retirement as a dedicated pediatric surgeon in central PA since July 1, 1973.
Dr. Alvear’s commitment to improving the quality of life and his dream of delivering vital medical services to underserved nations led him to establish the World Surgical Foundation in 1997. Thousands of volunteers, each contributing their talents, have brought health and hope to families in more than seven countries. WSF’s 20th anniversary gala is a celebration of all those who have volunteered, sponsored, and supported WSF through the last two decades.
Starting at 2 p.m. with a welcoming reception, the afternoon will feature a lively celebration in the Sunoco Theater, using song and dance, personal tributes and extraordinary success stories to tell the amazing story of the WSF and Dr. Alvear’s steadfast leadership. Patrons will have an opportunity to continue conversing over coffee/dessert, followed by an optional “after party” from 6-7 p.m. inside the Whitaker Center with music by New York City recording artist Felicia Renae. Felicia and her band will perform classic favorites of the guest of honor and original songs including her hit single “Warrior,” which Felicia has dedicated in part to the World Surgical Foundation.
Your presence will ensure that this very special event will be a successful recognition of the life’s work of an amazing person, physician, and healthcare philanthropist, while providing critical funding to continue the surgical missions of the WSF.
