Whitaker Center's Girl Scout workshops are always a favorite. We offer workshops for Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, AND AMBASSADORS! There are a variety of workshops from drawing to movie making. Scouts can register with their troop or as individuals. Adults and leaders will need to accompany their Girl Scouts to the workshop and remain within the required ratios. Each scout will take home the earned badge at the end of the workshop to add to their vest or sash! Questions regarding workshops can be sent to education@whitakercenter.org. Please note, for badge workshops held at Whitaker Center - science center exploration before or after your workshop is NOT included in the price of your workshop. Science center tickets can be purchased at the Box Office the day of your workshop if the science center is open to the public.
Whitaker Center follows CDC guidelines and recommendations. At this time, masks are optional.

Splish! Splash! Water is crucial to our survival. For such an important resource, we often take it for granted. This workshop will explore the beauty of water and educate on ways to protect this valuable resource. By the end of this program, scouts will earn the Water Badge.
Dec 17 GS: Cadette Think Like an Engineer 12:30-2:30 pm
Engineers help the world as we know it to function. They design all sorts of things to help make life easier. Planes, trains, prosthetics, and even cell phones, were first designed by engineers. In this workshop, scouts will try several challenges that encourage them to put their engineering skills to test. By the end of this program, scouts will earn the Think Like an Engineer Badge.
Jan 7 from 9:00 to 10:30 am: GS Daisy - Roller Coaster
Weeeee! Roller Coasters are a favorite of most at amusement parks. They are also a great feat of engineering. In this workshop, scouts will put their engineering skills to the challenge of building their very own roller coaster. At the end of this program, scouts will earn the Mechanical Engineering: Roller Coaster Badge.
Jan 14 from 9 to 10:30 am: GS Brownie - Senses
I spy with my little eye: the five senses of sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste are integral to how we explore and understand the world. In this workshop, the scouts will explore and learn more about these senses and how they help us navigate the world around us. By the end of this program, scouts will earn the Senses Badge.
Jan 21 from 12 to 2 pm: GS Cadette - Book Artist
Books are one of our most valuable resources. They can store information, memories, and instructions. This workshop will explore different styles of books and book binding. By the end of this workshop, scouts will earn the book artist badge.
Jan 28 from 9 to 10:30 am - GS Daisy - Model Car
“Are we there yet?” Cars help us get places and are a great feat of engineering. Each design is equipped for different challenges. Some are fast, some are durable. In this workshop, scouts will get the opportunity to put their minds to the engineering challenge of building a model car. By the end of this program, scouts will earn the Mechanical Engineering: Model Car Badge.
Feb 4 from 9 to 11 am - GS Junior - Crane
Construction up ahead! Cranes are often something we think of as a building tool, but the engineering of cranes can actually be very complex. In this workshop, scouts will put their minds to the challenge of building a working crane and by the end of the program, scouts will earn the Mechanical Engineering: Crane Badge.
Feb 11 from 12 to 2:30 pm - GS Daisy - Robotics
Robots are becoming more and more prevalent in our daily lives. Romba’s and doordash robots. This workshop will focus on building, programming, designing, and showcasing robots. By the end of this workshop, scouts will earn all three robotics badges.
Feb 18 from 12 to 2:30 pm - GS Ambassador - Water

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction is one of Newton's Laws. In this workshop, scouts will learn about this principle, as well as learn about the engineering behind cars. By the end of this program, scouts will earn the Mechanical Engineering: Balloon Car Badge.
Mar 10 from 12 to 1:30 pm - GS Daisy - Board Game
Collect $200! In this program, scouts will apply their engineering and creativity skills to design and create their very own board game. Problem solving skills and imagination will be used to solve problems that arise as games are developed. By the end of this program, scouts will earn the Mechanical Engineering: Board Game Design Challenge Badge.
Mar 17 from 12 ro 2 pm - GS Senior - Sky
“The sky is the soul of all scenery.”- Thomas Cole. In this workshop, scouts will learn about the sky and our relationship with it. Both the science of the sky and the stories that originate from the sky will be our focal point. By the end of this program, scouts will earn the Sky Badge.
March 21 from 10 am to 2:30 pm - GS Cadette - Robotics
Robots are becoming more and more prevalent in our daily lives. Romba’s and doordash robots. This workshop will focus on building, programming, designing, and showcasing robots. By the end of this workshop, scouts will earn all three robotics badges.
Apr 7 from 12 to 2 pm - GS Brownie - Painting
Art of all kinds can be used to express our feelings or observations about the world around us. This badge will explore different styles of paintings and ways of expressing ourselves through paint. By the end of this workshop, scouts will earn the painting badge.
Apr 12 from 12 to 2 pm - GS Junior - Paddleboat
Canoes, kayaks, steam ships, cruise liners, jet skis. There are so many different ways to get around on water. This workshop will explore how boats work. Scouts will work to make a model paddle boat that can sail across water. By the end of this program, scouts will earn the Mechanical Engineering: Paddle Boat Design Challenge Badge.
