From free Community Days to signature seasonal celebrations, these events offer new ways to explore science, creativity, and connection—often in ways you won’t experience anywhere else. Community Days
Our Community Days are free events that invite the community to experience Whitaker Center in an open, inclusive way. These seasonal celebrations feature hands-on activities, interactive experiences, and opportunities to explore our spaces together — no purchase necessary (but registration is required).
Community Days are:
- Free and open to the public
- Offered seasonally throughout the year
- Designed for families, friends, and neighbors of all ages
Each Community Day has its own theme, activities, and special features so no two are exactly the same.

Signature & Special Events
In addition to Community Days, Whitaker Center hosts signature and special events throughout the year. These limited-time experiences include themed evenings, special programming, exclusive movie screenings, or seasonal celebrations.
Signature events often feature:

- Evening or after-hours experiences
- Limited availability

UPMC Children’s Teddy Bear Clinic
Register for UPMC Children’s Teddy Bear Clinic Event!
UPMC Children’s in Central Pa. knows a trip to the hospital can be overwhelming and perhaps
scary for kids. Our team wants to help your child lessen their fears at our free Teddy Bear Clinic
event at the Whitaker Center on Feb. 21.
Kids, aged 4 to 9, are invited to attend and bring their favorite teddy bear to participate.
UPMC Children’s will provide a teddy bear for each child as well.
Families must register for the event. No walk-ins.
