Winter Day Camps

Winter Day camps run from 9:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.

A day off from school means an extra day of fun and exploration with Whitaker Center’s Winter Day Camps! Winter Day Camps are for students in grades 3 through 6.

Our Day Camps include:

Jr. STEAM Camps (PreK-K)

Our Jr. STEAM camps inspire young learners to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics through hands-on discovery and creative play. Each week features a unique theme that sparks curiosity, builds confidence, and shows campers how science connects to the world around them.

STEAM Camps (Grades 1-5)

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics make our STEAM camps run! Each week has a unique theme with engaging hands-on activities and opportunities for creative discovery. Although the weekly theme is the same, lessons for each are carefully crafted to be engaging and meaningful at the campers’ level.

Innovation Camps (Grades 3-5 & Grades 6-8)

Innovation camps challenge young minds to think like creators, coders, and problem-solvers through cutting-edge technology experiences. From game design and robotics to AI exploration and digital art, campers develop critical thinking skills while discovering how technology can be both powerful and fun.

Puzzle & Play (Grades 6-8)

Campers will spend the week cracking codes, exploring symbols and ciphers, and diving into the world of game design through engaging challenges. This interactive camp sparks problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork while showing how technology can be both playful and powerful.

Pixel Palette (Grades 3-5)

Algorithm Investigators (Grades 6-8)

Campers will explore how machines learn, investigate the science behind AI, and discover ways to use technology ethically and responsibly. This hands-on, interactive week encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and curiosity about the powerful role of AI in our world.

Game Lab (Grades 3-5)

Campers will explore the basics of game design, creativity, and problem-solving through practical projects and collaborative challenges. This exciting week lets young innovators imagine, build, and play their own games while learning how technology brings ideas to life.

Logic & Lore (Grades 6-8)

Campers will explore logic puzzles, problem-solving challenges, and collaborative role-playing adventures that build critical thinking and creativity. Hello, Technology (Grades 3-5)

Hello, Technology is designed to help campers explore, understand, and use technology with confidence. Through interactive activities and creative challenges, campers will learn how devices work, discover the basics of coding and digital tools, and practice problem-solving in a tech-driven world. This week sparks curiosity, builds skills, and empowers young innovators to engage with technology safely and thoughtfully.

Tech Explorers: Minecraft & Engineering (Grades 3-5)

Tech Explorers is back for a second year with a whole new week of coding and engineering challenges. Campers spend half their day immersed in the world of Minecraft Education learning the art of coding. The rest of the day they embark on practical engineering challenges that ignite curiosity and creativity.

Tech Titans: LEGO Robotics & Minecraft Coding (Grades 6-8)

Tech Explorers is back for a second year with new LEGO Spike Robotics challenges and Minecraft Education lessons. The Minecraft Education platform provides daily explorations in coding. While LEGO Spike Robotics blends engineering and coding for a full day of engagement.

Musical Theatre Camp
(Grades 3-5 , Grades 6-8 , Grades 9-12)

New for 2026: Expanded Musical Theatre Opportunities!

This year, we’re excited to offer expanded musical theatre camps, allowing more campers to experience the joy of performing! We will present Disney’s Frozen Kids (grades 3-5) and Shrek the Musical Jr. (grades 6-8) on two different weeks with two different casts.

Week 1 (June 29-July 3) & Week 2 (July 6-10)

You’ll love this fanciful and heartwarming stage adaptation of the celebrated animated film. Join Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Sven, and all of your favorite characters as they embark on an epic, ice-filled journey of self-discovery, camaraderie, and the real meaning of true love.

SHREK THE MUSICAL JR. (Grades 6-8)

It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS THE MUSICAL Youth Edition (Grades 9-12)
Week 5 (July 27-31)

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea and became the hottest star on Broadway? Why, it’s SpongeBob SquarePants! This one-hour edition of the hit Broadway musical, brilliantly adapted from the iconic Nickelodeon series, is specially tailored for young actors.

Orientation and Audition:

> Disney’s Frozen Kids & Shrek the Musical Jr.: To enhance the campers’ experience, all participants will engage in an orientation and audition day. Campers will meet our dynamic director, Steffan Bomberger, and talented assistant director and choreographer, Ashlyn Auriemma. They will guide campers through their developmental approach to musical theater, including introductory movement and singing exercisesCampers who wish to audition for lead or speaking roles will stay for individual auditions after the group orientation.

  • April 11, 2026: Orientation and auditions for Disney’s Frozen Kids
  • April 12, 2026: Orientation and auditions for Shrek the Musical Jr.


> SpongeBob the Musical: High school campers must submit an audition video. Campers wishing to audition for lead or speaking roles will audition in person on June 6, 2026.

  • Single Week: Campers available for only one of the two weeks can attend that week.
  • Flexible Availability: Campers with flexible schedules will be considered for more roles.

Next Steps

Step 1: Register & Pay

Choose the camp(s) that your child wishes to attend from the dropdown options above.
You will be directed to our Agile ticketing platform to complete payment. Payment is due at the time of registration.

Step 2: Enrollment Form

After registering and paying for your camp through Agile, you will receive an email from the camp director with your next steps. This will include completing an enrollment form that must be returned within 2 weeks to retain your registration.

**Families that don’t complete the enrollment form within 2 weeks may lose their registration if the camp is filled. Camper will not be allowed to attend camp if the enrollment is not complete AND/OR the invoice is not paid.

Scholarships

Summer Camp STEAM scholarships are available to attend STEAM and Innovation camps at a reduced rate. Families that qualify for the Pennsylvania ACCESS/EBT Card are encouraged to apply. 

*Need-based – must receive state assistance/benefits. Based on available funds. Can only use one (1) week per child, per summer.
