Here’s what’s going on at Space Day 2026:
- 10:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. | UPMC Science Center exploration (including the newest traveling exhibit, Mission Aerospace), and activities including hands-on space lessons in the STEM design studios
- 11:30 A.M. | StarLab mobile planetarium show (9:30 A.M.)
- 10:30 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. | Special Demonstration (to be announced) in the Select Medical Digital Cinema
- 11:30 A.M. | New Film Premiere (details coming soon) in the Select Medical Digital Cinema
- 12:30 P.M. | New Film Premiere (details coming soon) in the Select Medical Digital Cinema
- 12:30 P.M. – 1:15 P.M. | Keynote Speaker: Astronaut Hines- Presentation with Crew 4 Mission Video; Followed by Q&A in Sunoco Performance Theater
- 1:30 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. | Special Demonstration (to be announced) in the Select Medical Digital Cinema
About Keynote Speaker, Astronaut Hines:
Born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Bob Hines grew up moving many times throughout Pennsylvania, including to State College, Lancaster, Pittsburgh, Mountaintop, and Hershey/Harrisburg. His wife, Kelli, is from Caledonia, Mississippi. The couple has three daughters. Bob’s father and step-mom, Robert Sr. and Melody Hines, and his mother and step-father, Lynne and Tom Swider, reside in Harrisburg, PA.
Astronaut Hines was selected as a NASA astronaut in 2017. He most recently served as the pilot of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-4 mission to the International Space Station as part of Expedition 67 and 68. During that mission, he logged a total of 170 days in space! Hines is currently assigned as a backup crew member for the agency’s Artemis III mission – a mission to low Earth orbit designed to test rendezvous and docking capabilities between Orion and commercial spacecraft needed to land astronauts on the Moon. Hines will train alongside NASA astronauts Randy Bresnik, Frank Rubio, and Andre Douglas, and ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut Luca Parmitano. Learn more about Astronaut Hines on NASA’s website.
