5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (or in our case, night!) is a nationwide, annual event focused on increasing interest in engineering among girls and young women. The event is held in conjunction with National Engineers Week.
2019 Workshop Theme: Wind Power
Using wind power is a greener and more sustainable way to create energy for the environment, which is essential as we progress in the 21st century. During the first two hours of this program, girls will explore wind energy and its relevance through engineering a wind turbine using KidWind kits. Following this hands-on, collaborative STEM activity girls will get the opportunity to watch the Dream Big: Engineering our World 3D in Select Medical Digital Cinema.
This is a drop-off program for girls in grades 4 - 8. Parents and siblings of workshop participants are welcome to play in Harsco Science Center while the workshop is taking place AND join in the movie viewing at 7:00pm for $5 per person (age 3 and up). Parents can purchase this special companion admission at the Box Office on the night of the event.
Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm
Cost: $5 per girl (grades 4 -8)
Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day is part of Whitaker Center’s Girls in STEM program, which has been generously funded by The Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation and Bayer.
