This summer camp is a girls in STEM initiative for high school students rising into grades 10-12 who are interested in health careers and research. It will be facilitated by William Wong, D.O., Department of General Surgery and a resident of general surgery, and will highlight the careers of healthcare providers from diverse backgrounds, primarily women of color, who practice medicine at Penn State Health. The experience will include opportunities for enrichment in science, medicine, and technology. Students will complete hands-on basic surgical training such as suturing, central lines, chest tubes, and intubation. Students will have exposure to complete surgical cases and also view a Surgery Live! program as a part of the camp.
This program is completely scholarship funded, therefore an application and selection process will take place.
