Emerging Healthcare Professionals - Science of Surgery Summer Camp

Emerging Healthcare Professionals: Science of Surgery is designed for high school students from diverse backgrounds who are rising into grades 10-12 and interested in health careers. It will be hosted by the Office for Multicultural Recruitment and Community Affairs at Penn State Harrisburg and will be held on their beautiful campus. Facilitated by Dr. Amanda Cooper, associate professor of surgery at Penn State College of  medicine, the program will highlight the careers of health care providers from a variety of backgrounds who practice medicine at Penn State  health.  The experience will include opportunities for enrichment in science, medicine and technology. Students will complete hands-on basic  surgical training such as suturing, central lines, chest tubes and intubation. Students will have exposure to complete surgical cases and also view  a Surgery Live! program as a part of the camp.
