April 27, 2019
11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

We’re so excited to join the Earth Day Network in 2019 to Protect Our Species! Join us on April 27th as we invite local stewards of our planet to teach, play, and learn about ways we can all make a difference in protecting our environment for future generations.

We’ve got TONS of fun lined up both in and out of Harsco Science Center from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM:

The Pennsylvania Honey Queen  - Check out a beekeeper’s suit and a miniature hive with Kaitlyn Stauffer, the 2019 Pennsylvania Honey Queen! Plus enjoy honey sticks, honey recipes, and a make-and-take project.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental ProtectionJoin Pennsylvania’s very own Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to learn about the DEP FalconCam and the Peregrine falcons that next on the 15th floor of the Rachel Carson State Office Building downtown. Plus, check out the DEP Water Wheel and bean-bag toss to learn how you can contribute to keep our water clean!

EnvirothonEnvirothon is an annual environmentally themed academic competition for high school aged students organized by the NCF-Envirothon, a program of the National Conservation Foundation. They’ll have lots of free information about how you and your family can join them in protecting our environment and will be handing out butterfly-shaped solar pollinators with wildflower seeds for planting in your garden. Plus, they’ll be selling “PennFuture Watchdog Doggie Bandana’s” for your pups!

Join us April 27th for everything above plus more fun, information, giveaways and exciting prizes from the Capital Area Beekeepers, the Capital Area Greenbelt Association and more.  All activities are INCLUDED in Harsco Science Center admission.
