Citizen Science for All!

Everyone can be a scientist! Explore how citizen scientists make observations and collect data for current research projects around the globe. This workshop will be collecting bird population data to help ornithologists conserve Pennsylvania’s diverse bird population. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. A Whitaker Center Educator will be there to help you every step of the way.

*Trail difficulty is moderate, please wear appropriate clothing and prepare to be outdoors for the duration of the workshop. Each workshop is weather dependent.*

Please be prepared to be outside for the duration of the workshop and dress appropriately for the weather. This means dressing in layers and planning your outfit according to the forecasted temperature. Also bring a FULL water bottle for each member of your party, comfortable closed-toed shoes, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, bug spray, a snack, and anything else you may need.  

  • Open to all ages.  An adult over the age of 18 must accompany children under the age of 18. 
  • Every individual walking the trail on their own will need a ticket to participate.  If young children are being carried in a pack or sling, they will not need a ticket. 
  • 18 participants per session.
  • $8 per person non-member. $5 per person member.
