Harsco
Science Center
A visit to Whitaker Center is totally interactive… it’s a see-hear-and touch exploration of the arts and sciences. Harsco Science Center offers serious fun with self-directed exploration and discovery. More than 200 interactive exhibits, grouped in themed areas called Learning Worlds, allow students to investigate the sciences, perform experiments and learn about the world around them. Younger students can also take advantage of Kids’ Hall—a space designed especially for children 8 years old and under—filled with early learning activities including a kid-friendly microscope, story time science reading area, and the acclaimed StuffeeTM performance area. Big Science Theatre presentations and demonstrations make learning about science and technology fun, while in-depth Discovery Labs immerse your students in the wonders of science and art through hands-on, inquiry-based activities.
Whitaker Center programs are aligned with the Pennsylvania Academic Standards, and program descriptions include recommended grade levels where appropriate. Pre- and post-visit materials and Exhibit Explorer question banks are by contacting the School Reservations Office at school_services@whitakercenter.org or (717) 214-4644.
