PNC Grow Up Great With Science
Thanks to a generous grant from the PNC Foundation to Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, preschool educators from throughout the region will have opportunities to improve their skills in providing hands-on science learning experiences for children in their classrooms.
The grant builds on previous funding support through Grow Up Great with Science, PNC’s initiative to help build a stronger foundation in science for regional preschoolers. A study by the National Research Council recognized that providing young children with research-based mathematics and science learning is likely to pay off with increased achievement, literacy, and work skills in these critical areas.
Whitaker Center was one of 15 recipients in seven states and the District of Columbia to receive funding through PNC Grow Up Great. Whitaker Center’s grant for the 2013 – 2014 school year will further enhance the science background knowledge and implementation of quality STEM learning experiences of preschool teachers in the region. In addition to a full day professional development seminar, participants will have the opportunity to take part in two webinar sessions designed to help them more successfully implement an integrated teaching model.
Please note: This program is limited to prior Grow Up Great With Science participants and is by invitation only. For more information, contact Lori Lauver, Director of Education, email here or 717/724-3865.
