Known as one of rock’s most recognizable front men of the 80s, Bret Michaels continues to garner popularity and mainstream success of today. Aside from being a multi-platinum selling artist, actor/producer, reality star and winner of Celebrity Apprentice 3, Michaels is if nothing else, a true survivor. He has survived a lifelong battle as an insulin dependent diabetic, as well as a publicized near fatal car crash in 1994.
As the leader of legendary glam-metal rock band Poison, Michaels has sold 25 million records and scored an amazing 15 chart-busting Top 40 singles including, Talk Dirty to Me, Something to Believe In, Nothing But a Good Time, and the timeless No. 1 smash Every Rose Has its Thorn. The band continues to be one of the industry's top grossing concert attractions and 2006’s 20 Years of Rock album, was a bona fide Top 20 Gold smash. Poison'D! (2007) is the band’s most recent CD.
In the mid 90s, Michaels formed a film production company with actor Charlie Sheen, which ultimately led to Michaels writing, directing and starring in several films including, A Letter From Death Row. Michaels has produced and written material for Stevie Nicks’s platinum album, Timespace: The Best Of Stevie Nicks. More recently, Michaels has also provided background vocals with Phil Vassar on the Kenny Chesney/Uncle Kracker duet single, Last Night Again.
Setting his musical sights beyond Poison, Michaels released his debut solo album Songs of Life in 2003 followed by the rootsy Americana flavored Freedom of Sound (2005). Rock My World was released in 2008 and featured a collection of Michaels' solo songs on VH1’s mega popular reality series Rock Of Love, in which the musician starred.
2010’s Custom Built is Michaels’s newest solo effort, which has already earned No. 1 spots on the Billboard Hard Rock Album Chart and the Billboard Independent Album Chart, a No. 4 spot on the Billboard Rock Album Chart, and No. 14 spot on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. After more than 20 years in the business, there is no doubt that this award-winning superstar's career will continue to move at warp speed.
