GARRISON KEILLOR APPEARANCE RESCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY 21

Whitaker Center is pleased to announce An Afternoon with Garrison Keillor─ Lake Wobegon Days presented at the Forum, will take place on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 4pm.  Tickets are $200.00, $124.50, $69.50, $49.50 and $27.50. Pre-purchased tickets to his original September 20 performance will be honored.

Best-selling author and host of A Prairie Home Companion, Garrison Keillor has entertained listeners and readers alike for several decades. Keillor has received a multitude of honors, including a Grammy® Award, two Cable ACE Awards, a George Foster Peabody Award, and the National Humanities Medal from the National Endowment for the Humanities. In addition, he was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame at Chicago’s Museum of Broadcast Communications.

Keillor recently played himself in the movie adaptation of his show, A Prairie Home Companion (2006), featuring Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin. He has also written twelve books, including The Book of Guys (1993); Valente As Told to Garrison Keillor (1999); Love Me (2003); 2004’s Homegrown Democrat; and Good Poems for Hard Times (2006). In 2008, Keillor released his newest novel, Liberty.

Keillor has also performed with many orchestras, including the Chicago, Milwaukee, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Dallas, and National symphonies. He has appeared at Wolf Trap, Carnegie Hall, and other major concert halls as a member of The Hopeful Gospel Quartet. Apart from his broadcasted tours of A Prairie Home Companion, the Harrisburg audience will catch Keillor performing hilarious commentary in the one-man show Lake Wobegon Days.
