Dave Mason is most well-known for his time as a member of the British progressive rock band, Traffic who reached the height of popularity in the late 1960s. His career outside of Traffic is varied; forming collaborative duos with Mama Cass Elliott, Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Jimi Hendrix as well as joining later iterations of the bands Traffic, Derek and the Dominos and Fleetwood Mac.  Many of the musical relationships he formed resulted in him writing or co-writing songs for these groups that became hits.

His most prominent success as a solo artist came from his years when he was signed with Columbia records where he released two albums that eventually went Gold; Mariposa del Oro, and Dave Mason, followed by Let It Flow which went Platinum and included the classic single "We Just Disagree" which became a top 20 hit in 1977. Mason was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a founding member of Traffic in 2004.
