Theater Design
The Performance Theater combines an architectural understanding of the performer's needs with a contemporary approach to the traditional English Court Theater model.
The stage is a traditional proscenium with optional apron extension and is comparable in size to most on Broadway (proscenium width - 40'; proscenium height - 28'; stage depth - 45'; stage width - 80', stage height to underside of gridiron - 51').
Featuring state-of-the-art light, sound and technical equipment, the theater includes backstage fly space and an orchestra pit with mechanical lift. A below grade chair lift makes it one of the first handicap accessible orchestra pits. The theater also includes a special temperature controlled and humidified room to store two nine-foot Steinway pianos.
The gently raked seating area ensures every patron has a clear view and is never more than 65 feet from the stage. Audience capacity is 664, including 382 at Orchestra level; 130 at Mezzanine Level; and 152 at Balcony Level. Seating is reduced to 627 with Orchestra Pit seats eliminated.
