Beginning
Saturday, June, 3, 2006 Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts
will present the limited-engagement exhibit, Surf the Wind
in Gloria M. Olewine Gallery at Harsco Science Center as part
of the summer-long celebration, KiteFest.
Surf the
Wind explores the history, science, technology and artistry
of one of the world’s most popular pastimes, taking guests
on an interactive journey into the world of 21st Century kites.
This exciting exhibit features kites, kiting and interactive stations;
a 22 kite gallery with kites from around the world; the Wall of
Wind where visitors can test-fly small kites in the gallery; computer
design and kite modeling stations, and much more. Surf the
Wind also includes fascinating facts from the history of
kites, shows spectacular examples of kite aerial photography,
and exposes children and adults to today’s kite scene.
